This is our first duty as your newsletter writer since 1991. So good luck on what you read this year.
Congratulations once again to Nita & Grady White for a second time around great year as our President and Secretary/Treasurer, etc. At least the pen is no longer in the hands of the Queen of Torment.
The Fall Rally, Sept 13-16, at Joe Wheeler State Park was a big success, but that is what we have come to expect from Tommy & Marie Glenn. Great job Glenns. We had twenty attending: Glenns (two), Hales, Hilliards, Johnston, Landrums, Robertsons, Smiths, Spanyer, Whitakers, Gilmores, Whites, Wilbanks, Williams, Wilsons, Evans, and Pauline Hempstead. Our Regional Governor, Tom & Janis Johnson were also in attendance along with Buddies/Visitors Freddy & Regina Smith, Devaughn & Delores Thomas, and Gwyn & Suzanne King. Bill & Evelyn Evans were welcomed back into the fold after 10+ years of owning an SOB. In case some of you don't know, Bill & Evelyn were our Unit President and Secretary/Treasurer in 1993.
The DuQuoin Rendezvous was attended by Whitakers, Hales, Whites, Gilmores, and Clem Hoefler. Those of you missing this rendezvous really missed a good one. We need to keep Laura Allen in our thoughts and pray for a speedy recovery.
Next up is our Christmas Party which will be held again this year at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville on November 30th. You will be receiving the notice soon. Next year we will have our Spring Rally at Gulf Shores at the Luxury RV Park April 10-13. Fall Rally again at Joe Wheeler State Park near Rogersville, Alabama.
The news you read here will largely be what you send to us, so if you don't send it we cannot share it with others.

Having just returned from the Southwest Roundup there is a bit of news to report. The Arizona Unit represented by Diane & Jack held our fall rally, with the associates from CA and RM units. With a great deal of teeth gnashing and arm twisting Diane was persuaded to carry the Presidential banner for yet another year. Of course this means that yours truly will be the scribe for her last term as President. Now for the report on our Southwest Roundup; true to their tradition Governor Robert Lee and First Lady Clara did an outstanding job and there was not one wasted moment. Tours began the first day with a trip to Historical Santa Fe, followed by trips to the “Old Town” and the Pueblo Acoma. As you are, no doubt, aware there is always ample food at these doings with the afternoon “tea” times and the, never to be missed, ice cream social. Diane conducted the door prize portion of the event and everyone quickly supplied prizes as well as the vendors, Cracker Barrel, Camping World, Meyers RV, Avery Products, makers of that Famous Tabasco plus a Balloon Ride by JR & Debbie Allison and an up to $300 value Lube and Oil change by “The Shop”. This constitutes only a small portion of the great gifts provided for our members. Thanks to all for your generous donations.
Your Unit and Associate dues are now payable; please send your check for $6.00 to Fleetwood Travelcade Club AZ Unit and mail to Jack Ernest. Several members have already paid the 2008 dues.
November Critter Report: We continue to have frequent visits from the Bob Cat family, while we do not feed them we do provide water and often you may see a cat or two just pausing for a drink. Nick the stick is still AWOL, as is his lady friend. We have sent a search party out for any sightings of Nick, however, no findings have been reported. The Quail families are now full grown and it has become extremely difficult to tell the adults from the offspring. Four dates to remember, in November, daylight savings ends for those that still celebrate that event on November 4th, USMC Birthday on November 10, Veterans Day November 11, and that Great Turkey Feast, Thanksgiving Day, November 22. Enjoy your summer’s travels and hurry back.

ARKANSAS
Pres. Jerry Keeter #16373, 5391 Sand Flat Rd., Harrison, AR 72601;
Secy/Treas. Peggy Keeter #16373, 5391 Sand Flat Rd., Harrison, AR 72601, pkeeter@ritternet.com
Here we go again! Peggy & I will be serving as officers for 2009. Darrell & Patsy Horsey completed an excellent Fall Rally at Aux Arc Corp. Park at Ozark, AR. There were three Arkansas units and fifteen buddy units attending. As with all rallies, there was an abundance of fun, food, and fellowship.
The Arkansas Christmas party will be December 1, at Ryan’s Family Steakhouse in Conway, AR. There will be several of us camping at Toad Suck Park in Conway starting Thursday, the 29th of November through Sunday, the 2nd of December. Everyone is welcome to join us.
On a sad note, we will certainly miss Wayne Downs, who passed away in October. Wayne was our expert coffee maker at all of our rallies. Our thoughts and prayers are with Wanda and their daughter.
If anyone has any news, please let us hear from you.
Jerry & Peggy Keeter
CALIFORNIA
Pres. Mike Sexton, #23798, 1551 Valley View Dr., Yuba City, CA 95993;
1st VP Myrna Mendenhall #15514, 2807 West Ave. M-12, Palmdale, CA 93551;
Secy/Treas. Kathy Sexton #23798, 1551 Valley View Dr., Yuba City, CA 95993, (530) 671-0164 ksexton24@comcast.net
Several members of the California Unit attended a fabulous Southwest Roundup hosted by the Southwest Governor Bob & Clara Lee of the RM Unit. We were honored to have members from OK, AL, TX, NC, and MI as well as members from the Southwest Region, AZ, CA and RM Units, for a total of 31 rigs. We welcomed two new CA members for the first time; Bob & Jeannine Dunbar #24386 from Carson City, NV and Rennie & Karen Powell #24381 from Henderson, NV. We hope to see them again at future get-togethers.
We all met in Albuquerque for four days of fabulous sight-seeing of Old Town, The Pueblo Indian Cultural Center, Santa Fe, and Sky City, the Acoma Pueblo. A few played golf, many went shopping, and everyone was wined and dined with a delicious meal, and then entertained by the Sophisticated Ladies at the Lee’s beautiful home. On Thursday evening, nine men put on their best “outfits” and strutted their stuff to entertain the group. In addition to Uncle Sam and Colonel Sanders, the other seven of them were “women”, including Dolly Parton, a pregnant lady, a Texas cowgirl, Shirley Temple, a hula girl, a red hat lady, and a stripper! Ask anyone who attended about that show!! Some members became “infamous” after their performance.
On Friday, we moved to the Balloon Field to prepare for the Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta: Rainbow Skies. That evening we took the tram to the top of Sandia Mountain for the beautiful view as the sun went down and the lights of Albuquerque came on. Another delicious meal was followed by the excitement of extremely high winds which temporarily shut down the tram. We planned to leave the mountain about 7:30 pm and finally boarded our tram, the last one down, at 10:00 pm.
The Fiesta began on Saturday with the first mass balloon ascension, and several members were aboard balloons for their first rides. (We had to leave the RV grounds at 4:30 am to make our departures. After our excitement of the evening before, we didn’t get much sleep.) BUT it was a fabulous experience for all, riders and watchers alike.
That evening we ate at a Chinese buffet, and were pleasantly surprised when Quis & Margaret Quisenberry showed up for dinner. They had planned to attend the Roundup, but were unable to, so they came to visit their son who lives in Albuquerque instead and surprised us at dinner. Everyone was very happy to see both of them.
New officers were elected for the 2008 year: President Mike Sexton, First Vice President Myrna Mendenhall, and Secretary/Treasurer Kathy Sexton. Jim Davis was elected as Southwest Governor to follow Bob Lee in 2008. Jim & Julia Mason were honored for their year of service to the Club. We all look forward to serving our members and helping the club grow during the next year or two.
A note from Marilyn Miller advised that Mayo had surgery to remove hardware from his hip joint, as he had acquired an infection, on October 12th and is able to move his leg with much less pain for the first time in two years. He has not been on his feet since February of 2007 but it is possible that, with therapy, he may be able to stand and walk with a walker. He is expected to be in the hospital for a week and then extensive IV treatment at home. Marilyn says she is ready to go for her RN degree after all she has learned but they do have a nice lady who is a CVN from an agency to come in a few hours a day to help.
Bob & Dottie Gaines were in Hemet for a few days and met Quisenberrys for dinner as they traveled through on their way home from Albuquerque. Bob & Dottie are getting settled in their new home with Bob’s sister in Carson City.
The Inland Empire Luncheon held on the second Saturday of each month was attended by the Ansevics and Davises and they welcomed prospective new members from the San Fernando Valley, Kent & Cindy. They are the proud owners of a 1999 Southwind and are brand new RVers interested in traveling and looking forward to retirement and the RV lifestyle. There are around 50 current members who live in Southern CA within a 100 mile radius of Corona. If anyone would be interested in getting together monthly, perhaps at a different time or place than where they currently meet, please let them know. Recently there have been only 2-4 couples attending the luncheons in Moreno Valley. Since many people are busy on weekends perhaps an early dinner during the week might be an alternative. If you have ideas, please contact Dorothy Ansevics at (951) 683-5062 or Gale Hubert at (951) 582-9616.
If there are other areas that have several members in a region, consider meeting for lunch once a month to get acquainted and plan trips to rallies, roundups or rendezvous’ together.
We have two great rallies planned for next year so check The Fleetwood Flyer for dates and places and mark your calendars.
Until next time,
Kathy
FLORIDA
Pres. Bill Catron #6221, 25314 Adams St., Astatula, FL 34705;
1st VP Frank Bernard 4310 Dancey Dr., Wimauma, FL 33598;
Secy/Treas Cathy Stallings #16387 121 Rosewood Dr., Cocoa, FL 32926 (321) 403-4398 Cathy@stallings.com
Fall is here and winter is on the way but we wouldn’t know about that here in Florida. We (the Saxons) left Belleair with the dolphins and the manatees and are residing in Indian Rocks Beach. We are back in the same condo we were in 1-1/2 years ago. We go to the beach each morning and around 6 PM we do a four mile walk on the beach. It’s good to be back with friends.
This is the last newsletter we will be writing. Mike Stallings will be taking over; so please e-mail him with your news. His email address is mike@stallings.com.
We do have some news from our Florida members. Charles & Fran Blanchet left on a trip June 1st and didn’t return until the end of August. They took a Trek tour to Wyoming and left the RV and PC at home. They enjoyed the splendor of the west. On July 1st, they took their RV on an Adventure Caravan to the Canadian Maritimes. They enjoyed it so much that they went back the first of October to see the polar bears migrate in Churchill on the Hudson Bay. They also made a trip back to PA for their Godchild’s wedding. Chuck gave the bride away.
The Stallings finished their trip to Astoria, OR. Just ask them any questions you like about Lewis & Clark. They also toured Washington State and spent a few days south of Mt. Rainier. They took the two small Honda 250 cc motorcycles and rode up Mt. Rainier and then rode up to the north face of Mt. St. Helen’s. What a thrill! From there, they crossed the northern states and spent three days in the UP of Michigan in the former Air Force base Kinchole, now a civilian RV campground. If you stay a month, the rate is only $7/day for full hookups including 50 amp. They rode their bikes around the Aault locks and the city of Sioux St. Marie. They had lunch at the Antlers Restaurant where there must have been a zillon stuffed heads and animals. They also visited Muncie where their youngest son just moved from Indianapolis. They arrived home after a tour of 9,000 miles and 10 weeks plus 2 days.
Chris & Bill Catron attended the Good Sam Rally in Redmond, OR. They covered over 15,000 miles in 4-1/2 months. They were the Fleetwood Ambassadors at The Rally and like all good Fleetwood families, they traded their motor home for a new 40’ American Tradition. They had a great time.
Roy & Dee Manor have been on the road for six weeks with great travels! They left home in August for NC for Dee’s appointment with an eye doctor then traveled to VA for a brief visit with son, Al, then on to DC for conference (stayed at Ft. Meade, MD) then continued on to Plattsburg, NY for visits with relatives. They visited the American Coach Factory in Decatur, IN before attending the rendezvous. They traveled back to VA to visit with son, Dean & family, back to NC for another appointment with eye doctor and finally back home. A little over 5,000 miles and 750 gallons of diesel; that is about 14 barrels. WOW!
Florida members report that the rendezvous at Du Quoin, IL was a very good one. Those from FL in attendance were: Dave & Pam Cox, Al & Carole Dumbleton, Tom & Jeanne Russell, Roy & Dee Manor, Gene & Betty Cody and Associates Ed & Bev Schwitters. The rendezvous was well planned and everything was enjoyed by all. The tour to Scott AFB was especially enjoyed as our group was given the red carpet treatment. Jeanne & Tom’s dog show was a success.
On a sadder note, Lewis Fleming is being treated for Guillian-Barre syndrome (Peripheral nervous system). They did a spinal tap and there was blood in it so they could not find out anything. Pray the medication they are giving him works. He is now in a nursing home in Valparaiso, IN. He is there for therapy. He still cannot stand or walk but now is able to feed himself while sitting on the side of the bed. He needs lots of prayers and so does Mary.
Don’t forget the January Rally at Lazy Days and the Noon luncheons in Lakeland. Call Pat Bradford for details on the luncheon.

We have just completed our Fall Rally, held jointly with the SC Unit. It was held at Camp Harmony, Elberton, GA. Georgia members attending were Dick & Gail Addison, William & Wilma Outz, Joe & Nancy Onda, Bobby & Carrie Shepard, Tom & Janis Johnson, Bill & Shirley McNaney with daughter, Laura, granddaughter Sarah and her friend Marilyn. Also attending were Associate members Hank & Peggy Moore NC Unit, past GA members Jere & Marion Key and visitors Phil & Pat Tuttle PA Unit. Phil & Pat got to experience good old southern hospitality when a company in Elberton made a granite marker for Phil's deceased cat, Barnett, for free. They also received some education. They now know what a Doodle Bug is and how to capture them.
Suzanne & Gwyn King along with the Johnsons attended the Alabama Fall Rally held at Joe Wheeler State Park. The Johnsons went on to the Fall Rendezvous in Illinois where they were joined by GA members Gene & Betty Cody and Bobby & Carrie Shepard.
Following the rendezvous, the Johnsons traveled to Missouri to visit their son Eric and family and say goodbye to grandson Josh who is now in Marine basic training in San Diego, CA.
After leaving MO they stopped in TN to visit Moe & Pam Johnson. Pam is slowly regaining her strength and is looking forward to spending time in Florida this winter.
Bill & Shirley McNaney have a new grandson, Andrew, born September 8th. Phil & Francene Fretwell have moved to their new home in Leesburg, FL. Members Jimmie & Verdelle Herring and Robert & Barbara Westbrook have notified us that they will not renew their membership. We are sorry to have them leave.
We are saddened to report the death of two past members. Edith Bare #9084 passed away at age 90. On September 4th Charles Toney #14672 suffered a massive heart attack and died on September 12. Our sympathy goes out to Jean and the rest of his family.
2008 dues are now being collected. The national dues are $35.00 and should be sent to our new Billing Officer. Send to Fleetwood Travelcade Club, P.O. Box 43886, Birmingham, AL 35243. Georgia Unit dues are $5.00 and should be mailed to your new Secy/Treas Tom Johnson, 4343 Redwood Street, Doraville, GA 30360.
To all our members: when you don't show up at rallies, you keep getting recycled officers. Many thanks to Bill & Shirley McNaney for the great job they did this past year in service to our unit and the club as a whole.
Notices will be mailed or email sent about where and when our Christmas luncheon will be held. Let Tom know what is going on with each of you so he will have news for the Unit news!
Your new President,
Janis

We received a phone call from Tom & Georgia Horn. They are doing well but have sold their unit. Ralph Burcar and Shirley Clark stopped to visit with the Horn’s while at the DuQuoin Rendezvous. Eleanor Hayes, a former member and officer died in Chillicothe on October 3rd. John Chenoweth had a stroke, but we don’t have any further details.
While setting up for the Rendezvous, one of our own, Doris Carman, caught a crippled hummingbird in the Expo Building and nursed it back to health (we think). She fixed up some sugar water and got it going again. Great job, Doris.
The IL Unit had their business meeting at the DuQuoin Fairgrounds on Tuesday, September 18th. The guys cooked up a great pork chop dinner with members bringing potluck. We met a whole bunch of great people at the Fall Rendezvous in DuQuoin, IL. Everyone should go to those. We can't wait til we are able to go to another. Since this is my first newsletter I really don't know what to say as I didn’t get much news. I need to study the old copies of the newsletters to get the idea of how it works.
The only real news I have received is that Lewis Carter is now in a nursing home and is doing better, but still can't walk. They are doing therapy. Our Fall Rally was held in Nashville IN and hosted by John & Rita McCarren at Westward Ho Campground. Albert & I were sworn in as Unit President and Secretary/Treasurer. Larry Bousman was nominated for the 1st Vice President this year. Not much news this time.
Please send me your news so I will have something to write about next month. I need to have it in by November 15th.

October brings to Iowa fall weather, cool evenings and warm afternoons. The Iowa/Minnesota/Nebraska Fall Rally and Buddy Campout was held just the week before the Fall Rendezvous in September at the West Liberty KOA. There were nine units and one couple who stayed at the Motel next door attending. Two tours were held in Muscatine, Iowa, while other events surrounded fellowship and food.
There were four Iowa Unit Members attending the DuQuoin Fall Rendezvous last month. It was a very nice, well organized, interesting and fun event. Members were reminded to pay their International dues to: Fleetwood Travelcade Club, P.O. Box 43886, Birmingham, AL 35243. Be sure to include your club number. The Iowa Unit dues of $5.00 should be sent to Joyce Wilson, P.O.Box 121, Atalissa, IA 52720.
We were saddened to learn of the passing of Pat Richmond in August of this year. She was the wife Al Richmond of Iowa City and former Fleetwood members.
Have a great fall and enjoy the warm days!

The Alls, Ken Cornish, the Crafts, the Dunns, the Gibsons, the Hisels, Rita Moss, the Peavlers, the Smiths, and Lanny Williams of the Fleetwood Travelcade Club, Kentucky Unit, met at the Kenton County Fairgrounds, Independence, KY, on Friday, October 12 for the KY Unit Fall Rally organized by Lanny & Ruth Williams, George & Marty Dunn and Rita Moss.
Friday afternoon the group enjoyed a tour of St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington, Kentucky. A knowledgeable tour guide shared highlights of the Gothic architecture with 27 Italian gargoyles. We learned that the original purpose of the wonderful gargoyles one often sees was to divert rainwater from the building sides! Artistic interpretation of the one hundred or so beautiful stained glass windows and mosaics was given by our guide as the group walked through the cathedral. Friday evening the group shared a wonderful fish fry prepared by the hosts before playing a number of mixer games.
After a delicious sausage gravy and biscuit breakfast prepared by the hosts, attendees enjoyed a free day for relaxation and flea marketing. Several members visited Ruth Williams, who is gravely ill and homebound, before meeting for dinner at Buckhead Grill. Sunday morning the group gathered to attend church at Independence Christian Church, the home church of the Williams and Gibson families, before feasting on a brunch at Greyhound Tavern. We then boarded a paddlewheel for a BB Riverboats Tour on the Ohio River narrated by a long time local resident who could share the history and attractions dotting the shore. Sunday evening, in keeping with the FTC tradition of eating abundantly, the group enjoyed Italian Night spaghetti and pizza prepared by the host families.
During the business meeting held on Saturday, Jim & Jackie Alls were presented 35 year membership pins. Election of officers was held, and Lloyd Smith, President; Russell Peavler; 1st Vice President, and Louise Smith; Secretary were installed. Thelma Gibson will continue to serve as Treasurer. Sid & Gladys Hisel were presented with an engraved clock for their dedicated service as past President and Secretary.

Fall is here in Michigan. One can tell by the colors of the leaves, the school buses on the roads, the season of football and other fall sports. But right now, the Wolverines don’t look too good. I bet that old guy that is a Buckeye fan is just loving the news reports right now. This fall brings one more outing for the Michigan group. It will be the Buddy Rally held at the church campgrounds in St. Louis, Michigan on September 30-October 6, 2007.
At the fall outing, the same officers were nominated and elected into office, Richard Parker President Dennis Wright, 1st Vice-President and Doris Stark as Secretary/treasurer. Also elected as Governor was David Slough. Congratulations for a job well done and another great year ahead of each of you.
For the members who were unable to attend the campout in Centerville, you missed a wonderful time. Pat & Bob Bradford and Larry & Gayle Klinkers did a wonderful job on planning the outing. All of their hard work was worth the effort. Out of state members attending were Loretta Fleming, Lewis & Mary Carter, Vic & Marlyn Kerlin from Indiana and Ken Cornish from Kentucky. The weather wasn’t the best, but it didn’t slow anyone down from doing what they wanted to do, see or whatever. Facilities were available when the storm warnings came into effect. The manager of the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds was terrific with all the campers.
No newsy notes at this time. Isn’t it pleasant news to know that no one is on the sick list?

This will be my last news reporting for the flyer. You will be in good hands with Barbara Knowlton taking over.
The Missouri Unit held their Fall Rally at Coach light RV Park in Carthage, MO October 10-13. The Edgingtons and Teagardens hosted the rally. Twenty nine members attended. A new couple, Ron & Ruth Russell from the Kansas City area joined our group and joined the Fleetwood Travelcade Club. We extend a big welcome to them. Our first timers at the Fall Rendezvous in DuQuoin, Earl & Jean Brigmann were also with us. We were happy to have them also. It is always good to have new members. Everyone enjoyed the fun games, fellowship, and of course at these rallies there is always a lot of eating. We personally want to thank the Teagardens for their great help. Gene Blase installed our new officers for this next year. They are listed above.
Leo & Mary Ann Roberts spent a couple days last month at Bennett Springs with Charles & Ann Cunningham and tried their luck at fishing. In November, Leo & Mary Ann will be going to Branson to see some Christmas Shows with a group from their bank.
Billy & Barbara Knowlton are new great grandparents to a little boy named Shane born October 8th. They also have a new addition to their household, a cute little dog named Max.

We had our Fall Rally with the Iowa Unit. It was a Buddy Rally held at West Liberty, Iowa and included some very interesting tours and always good food. Larry & Loreene Lane, Bev & Dick Johnson, Bev & Gene Russell, Bev & Bob Ratekin and Mel & Myrt Hinrichs attended from the NE Unit. Joyce & Jerry Wilson were so kind to open their home to us Saturday Night. There was more food and home made ice cream, also a football game on T.V.
After the Rally most of us headed to DuQuoin, IL for the Fall Rendezvous. Mel & I took a day and stopped in Springfield, IL. We wish we would have more time there and want to go back another time.
At the Rendezvous (Surprise, Surprise) we won the Road Runner Trophy. Those attending were Larry & Loreene Lane, Bev & Dick Johnson and Mel & Myrt Hinrichs. We always have a good time at rendezvous’ meeting new people and old friends, along with food, food and more food. We are looking forward to the 2008 Winter Rendezvous in Columbia, MO.
While in DuQuoin, Larry & Loreene Lane celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. For the special occasion we had a little celebration with them, dinner and fellowship. Way to go and we wish you many more.
From DuQuoin the Johnsons headed to Florida for the winter with plans to stop in the Smokey Mountains on the way. They will be back for Christmas. The Lanes and Hinrichs’ headed for Omaha.

Hope you are all enjoying the fall colors and cooler weather. It was a hot, and at times, a very wet summer for some areas of Ohio.
The Ohio Unit had a Fall Luncheon at the Golden Corral and Buffet in Findlay, Ohio on Sept. 11, 2008. Thank you, Betty Fagan, for taking care of all the arrangements for us. Dean Bailey & Yvonne Westover, Cal & Lee Brehm, Bud & Betty Fagan, Sam & Julia Lucas, Don & Diana Fischer, Bob & Marilyn Zakrajsek and Claire & Kathy Stewart (#14207) from South Carolina attended. Claire & Kathy were here visiting and attending Claire’s fraternity reunion in Bowling Green.
The Ohio Unit loves getting together and sharing news and meals so we had another Fall Luncheon on Sept. 13th in Canton, Ohio at the Home Town Buffet. Thank you, June Grable, for taking care of the arrangements for this enjoyable time. Those attending were Dean Bailey & Yvonne Westover, Don & June Grable, Dave & Paula Staib, Glen & Verla Forney, Jack & Bev Carstensen, John & Alice Wheeler, and Bob & Marilyn Zakrajsek. Jack & Bev Carstensen reported they just had two new grandchildren; they now have 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren!! Don & June Grable said they had been visiting with Phil & Pat Tuttle in Pennsylvania. Phil Tuttle had a “misunderstanding with his motorcycle” and dislocated his foot. We also learned that Dal Wagner’s sister has been in the hospital in Wooster, Ohio. We send our best wishes to Dal and his family for his sister’s speedy recovery. If you see Dean Bailey be sure to ask him why he does not like back yard clothes lines!!
The Ohio Unit Fall Rally was held in Jefferson, Ohio (Ashtabula County) August 20-25, 2008. Everyone had a good time in spite of the rain, and it did rain. We ate and went to an Alpaca Farm, ate, had a winery tour and tasting, ate, and went to the theatre for a Neil Simon play and ate. Be sure to ask Sam Lucas about our two “detours” on the way. Milt & Janet Maddux were planning on making it to the rally but ran into some heavy rains on the way. The weather prediction was not good so they turned around and went back home. We missed them and hope they make the next one, May 12-17, 2008 in Medina, Ohio.
The Fall Rendezvous was held in DuQuoin, Illinois Sept, 19-26, 2007. It was hot and dry with a beautiful lake right in front of the camping area. There were many activities, lots of entertainment, food and fun. First Timers were given lots of attention and help. Seven couples made up the group and Bob & Marilyn Zakrajsek (the only people representing Ohio in this elite group) made new friends. Ohio members attending the rendezvous were: Ken Huffman, Dean & Yvonne Westover/Bailey, Don & June Grable, Ron & Louise Gossard, Cal & Lee Brehm, Paul & Georgeanne Lickert, Dave & Pam Mapes and Bob & Marilyn Zakrajsek. Dean Bailey and Bob Zakrajsek played in the Golf Scramble and their team tied for 2nd place. Great job guys! A new event at the Rendezvous was a 10 mile bicycle ride. Twenty five people participated in this and they all started and they all finished. That was a very good percentage considering it had been some time since some of the people had been on a bicycle. Everyone enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to the next ride, a 17 mile ride at the Winter Rendezvous in Missouri in 2008.
The Ohio Unit had a get-together on Sept 23rd (at the Rendezvous) in the pavilion on the fairgrounds. We all talked, ate, laughed, ate and shared stories. There was also a very unofficial game of Trivial Pursuit (music and history) which was a lot of fun. Don & June Grable, Cal & Lee Brehm, Dave & Pam Mapes, Ron & Louise Gossard, Phil & Pat Tuttle, Dean & Yvonne Westover/Bailey, Ken Huffman, Bob & Marilyn Zakrajsek and Frank & Bev Simon joined in the fun and festivities.
Cal & Lee Brehm went on a 10 day cruise to Hawaii in October. We hope they had a wonderful time and are anxious to hear all about it. Aloha and enjoy every minute of this memorable trip. Sam & Julia Lucas could not go to the rendezvous in Illinois because of a very special event in their family. Their son, Shawn, was getting married in California in the Redwood Forest. what a beautiful setting!! Sue Chiles had a heart catheterization and is undergoing some more tests. She is in good spirits and we send her our love and best wishes. Paul Lickert had some back problems at the Fall Rally in Jefferson City which caused Paul & Georgeanne to leave early. He is still having some pain but is improving. Bud Fagan is doing better after all of his tests. Bud is waiting for the results of one more test to come back.
We hope everyone is healthy, happy and having fun. Have a blessed Thanksgiving and eat lots of turkey, stuffing, cranberries, and pumpkin pie.
Congratulations and best wishes to the following people who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries.
Anniversaries: Cal & Lee Brehm (#13963) 51st anniversary 11/10, John & Alice Wheeler (#11986) 56th anniversary 11/22, Ron & Louise Gossard (#14860) 47th anniversary 12/13, and Dave & Pam Mapes (#24073) 36th anniversary 1/10.

Greetings and salutations. Another year is almost gone for the OK Unit. Since this will be my last newsletter, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bill & Nellie Pennington for allowing me the privilege of editing the OK news and also for all the hard work they put in over the past year keeping our Unit operating and treating our members to lots of food, fun and fellowship
As I write this, plans for the OK Fall Rally are complete and we look forward to gathering at Pioneer RV Park near Guthrie from the 17th through the 20th of October and the big question in all our members minds could be referenced to William Shakespeare. Which question is that, you ask? “TO BE OR NOT TO BE, THAT IS THE QUESTION”. We are down to seven active members with no prospects for new officers to lead us through the upcoming year. Will we survive or will our Unit members become part of the “Members at Large” group and our Unit go the way of several others in the recent past? By the time you read this our future will be determined.
Congratulations to Bernie & Judy Weithorn and the Illinois Unit for a great rendezvous with lots of food, fun and fellowship. Great tours, good entertainment, interesting seminars and even some time left over for socializing and Joker playing with friends. We even had a large bonfire on the lakeshore one evening with popcorn cooked over the fire. Shelby & Jerry Brown and Mary Lu & John Ehrle represented the OK Unit at the Rendezvous.
From the Illinois Rendezvous we headed west to attend the Southwest Roundup in Albuquerque, NM, hosted by Governor Bob & Clara Lee. Everyone in attendance reported having a great time and once again we all enjoyed several days of food, fun and fellowship. Bob & Clara had many activities planned that kept us all busy and entertained. Of course, the Balloon Fiesta was wonderful. Seeing 700 balloons in the beautiful blue New Mexico sky was beyond anything we could imagine and of course the nighttime balloon glow and fireworks displays were spectacular. The Browns, Wanda Berry, Ebb & Ginny Cox and the Ehrles from OK attended the Rally. What can I say; if Bob & Clara make the arrangements you know the resulting program will be good.
Shelby Brown was “under the weather” quite a bit of the time at both the rendezvous and the roundup and was unable to participate as much as she would have liked. Jerry said she was scheduled to see her Dr. as soon as they got home and also scheduled for a hip replacement surgery the end of October. We are all hoping that Shelby’s health problems are soon a thing of the past and that her surgery goes well.
Raymond McKellips recently underwent another surgery and is recovering nicely. That makes two operations in about a month for Raymond. We hope that he is ready to try something else to entertain himself in the future. We are very sorry to report that Raymond & Verda have sold their motor home and will not be renewing their membership in the Club this fall. They were valuable, active members of our Unit and will be sorely missed by our membership.
We have no birthdays to report for November, but our own Wanda Berry will celebrate her birthday on December 12th. We have no anniversaries for either month.
So with that, I will bid you a fond adieu. I have enjoyed presenting the OK Unit News for your reading pleasure during the past year.

Soon after this we headed to Meridian, Idaho for our Fall Rally. Last year’s officers put on a well planned rally that all those attending really enjoyed. The food was wonderful and the events and times together could not have been better, so right now we would like to give a big THANK YOU to those officers who worked so hard: Mable Ann Borchardt, Dick Eckhart, Max Hohnbaum and Sarah Gabel.
Those attending the rally were Lamothes, Dorothy Rofinot, Widmarks, Vorraths, Foxes, Gabels, Bancrofts, Borchardts, Hohnbaums, Hopkins, Edwards’, Eckharts and Anusiches. Well here it is November, already. I don’t know where the summer has gone. It just flew by. We had a buddy rally the first part of September put on by Wagonmasters, Bob & Ruth Skrable and Pete & Gladys Casamento. Many thanks to them, for all their work, and the folks who pitched in to help. Thank you all! Our new officers were installed by Northeast Governor Don Grable at our business meeting.
We went on a coal mine tour down in the mine where it was a cool 55 degrees. We now have some idea of what the miners went through. I’m glad I didn’t have to work down there. After the mine tour we boarded a steam train for a short ride, over the beautiful mountains. We also visited some markets, and enjoyed the wonderful sunny afternoon and of course, the usual food, food, ice cream, more food and sight seeing. Those attending were Wayne & Bertha Bowers, Jim & Ida Ann Dunagan, Jim & Beryl Eichlin, Fran & Peg Galloway, Roland & Jayne Jacobs, Mae & Bob Lindsay, Frank & Juanita Flynn/McCleary, John & Pat Owens, Bob & Ruth Skrable, Pat & Phil Tuttle, Jim & Mabel Watkins, Bob & Shirley Weiss, Bill & Ann Werner, and buddies of the Club Members, Bill & Sue Blaine, Pete & Gladys Casamento, Red & Jack Salvatora. We were sorry the Tuttles had to leave us early as Phil had a few toes out of place and was in a lot of pain. He is fine now once he got home to a Doctor. Also Ida Ann Dunagan went to the local hospital for a few days. She is fine now and wants to thank to everyone for the card and yellow chrysanthemums sent from the club.
Jean & Alex Kaki sold their trailer but will continue to keep their membership. Alex was in the hospital after he banged his leg and had an infection. He is OK now but cannot walk far. They will be flying to Florida in October for six days to get their place in the Palms ready for the winter.
We had three PA members representing us at the Fall Rendezvous in Duquoin, Illinois. They were Pat & Phil Tuttle, Beverly & Ed Schwitter and Tom & Charlotte Johnson and they all reported having had a good time
Our new President Bob Lindsay told his 7 year old Granddaughter, he was going to be a President and she wanted to know if his picture was going to be put on a dollar bill? Leave it to the kids!!
Our Spring Buddy Rally will be at Mountain Creek Campground, Gardners, PA. The date will be May 14-18th 2008, please mark your calendars. It should be an exciting rally as lots of nice things are being planned by our Wagonmasters Billy Ray & Jane Turner, with the help of Wayne & Bertha Bowers. More news at a later date! Also a Fall Rally is being planned for September 2008 near the Jersey Shore. More will follow on these arrangements made by Ruth & Bob Skrable, with the help of Bob & Mae Lindsay.
Phil & Pat Tuttle had a phone message when they arrived back home in West Virginia from Barbara Barnes that Herk Floyd passed away Sept 22, 2007. He had an accident 10 months ago and never recovered. Condolences can be sent to: Ms. Barbara Barnes, l89 Tyrone Road Morgantown, West Virginia 26508
A great big belated Happy Birthday to: Phil Tuttle 10/3, Sandra Sensel l0/09, Ida Ann Dunagan l0/l0, and Pat Tuttle l0/12. Also Happy belated Anniversaries to Wayne & Bertha Bowers l0/24, Mae & Bob Lindsay l0/24, Paul & Lorena Owens l0/24 and a Happy November Anniversary to Robert & Margaret Arnold 11/04.

Great weather greeted Bob & Clara (16037), Harry & Betty (15326) and Knute & Joan (15918) at the Fall Rendezvous in DuQuoin, Illinois. We enjoyed the tours, outstanding Sumo costumed singers and the news of a “Blue Ribbon Committee” to evaluate our club structure.
During our caravan to Albuquerque we had a chance to learn about Prison Ministry in Joplin, MO, the land rush in Oklahoma, the terror attack on the federal building in OK City; a nice rest break at the Route 66 Museum in Clinton, OK and the well run campgrounds in OK and TX. The crosswinds caused our motor home drivers to get stiff and sore. I guess pulling a trailer has advantages.
The week in New Mexico was filled with great activities. Hospitality was the hallmark of Bob & Clara (16037) as they hosted the activities. The variety of events appealed to everyone: Downtown tour, ancient cultural community, casinos, State Capital/Art Gallery, and the fantastic meal for the sixty camping friends and family. The last night was “too much” for the audience. Seven costumed models displayed what the well dressed ladies wore across the country, as revealed by male models. Two more shared their skill in representing Colonel Sanders of KFC and the USA. Many photos were taken to document this unique fashion show review. The balloon festival closed out the week with over 700 pilots taking to the air.
Our big unit news is the Rolling Rally (Buddy Rally) next June 14, 2008, for Cody, WY, West Yellowstone, WY, Ennis, MT., Helena, MT., Stay tuned for the camp ground names so you may lock in your reservations for next year. Also, our Winter Rendezvous in 2008 in Columbia, MO will be well attended: Gary (22292), Bob & Clara (16037), Dick & Laura (15701), Mike & Christina (24433), our new webmaster, are all marking their calendars.
Wayne & Dean (21106) are going to be in WY next June and should be able to join our Buddy Rally at Cody.
Besides planning the rally, Harry & Betty (15326) have been recovering from their China trip in June, doing chores for family in MT., taking fishing breaks and paying high fuel prices clear across the U.S. They are now on the east coast hosting family visits.
Our Treasurer, Tom (24151) missed our fall rally for a trip to Russia. He should be home and ready for unit dues when you read this.
Bob & Helen (17310) traveled with Knute & Joan (15918) north to Fort Garland, Colorado to dry camp after leaving New Mexico. Leaves were still gold and brown and the south wind helped us get home.
Clarence & Joyce (17130) reported good recovery and improved sight for Joyce following a stroke in June. Since she gave her car away, they are now shopping for a replacement. If all goes well, we’ll see them in Wyoming and maybe Missouri too!
That about covers all for now. Travel safe, enjoy God’s creations and keep your spouse happy; it’s a lonely road when there is no one to share the sights with.

As this news is being written, we have just returned home from our combined SC/GA Fall Rally held in Elberton, GA. We had very warm weather the first few days and then some cooler weather arrived which made for good sleeping at night and it did warm up some during the day. Mid-afternoon found many of us sitting around just catching up on all the news of other members. Some even sat on a double swing with their feet hanging down and pushing as we did when we were children.
Those attending from SC were Gene & Pam Brannock as first timers at any FTC function and Dan & Anne Fletcher as Rally First Timers who had attended their first rendezvous in Winston-Salem in April. Jim & Billie Barton, Herman & Marlene Murray & Harry & Lee Peel rounded out the SC members. The GA unit was represented by Dick & Gail Addison, Tom & Janis Johnson, Bobby & Carrie Shepard, Bill & Wilma Outz, Bill & Shirley McNaney, Joe & Nancy Onda & buddies Jere & Marion Key.
At breakfast on Thursday we had the privilege of having the Chief of Police of Elberton, Mark Welsh, come out to talk with us about the police force, how he knows where each officer is by using the computer in each vehicle and also some good places to eat. Mark had been the Chief for 20+ years in Doraville, GA where the Johnsons live so that was their connection with him.
Everyone was on their own until Friday morning when we met at the Elberton Chamber of Commerce to view a video of the city and the industry of Elberton which is the Granite Capital of the World. A representative of the chamber, Miss Phyllis then escorted us to a restored cabin which had belonged to Nancy Hart and her husband. The history of this cabin goes back to the American Revolution and it was interesting to have a volunteer from the Historical Society interpret the story of Nancy. She earned a place in history by single-handedly defeating a party of Tories who had invaded her home. Of course, she was dressed in period clothing and had a corn cob pipe in the corner of her mouth when she greeted us.
After lunch and time for shopping on the town square, we were taken to the GA Guidestones and a very interesting story was connected to the structure (a comparison to Stonehenge in England) but you really need to be there to appreciate it. Our next stop was the Elberton Granite Museum & Exhibit. By the time we finished our tour, everyone was ready to return to the campground for a short rest period before our potluck dinner.
When we arrived back at camp we were pleasantly surprised to find J.D. (Hank) & Peggy Moore, old time members from NC, waiting on the swing. They had dinner with us and some good conversation before leaving to stay in a motel so they could return for breakfast on Saturday. Hank was celebrating his birthday Saturday so congratulations were in order.
Several other attendees had birthdays during the rally. Shirley McNaney's daughter, Laura, her granddaughter, Sara, and her friend arrived just before dinner. Sara has just joined the Girl Scouts so the three of them slept in a tent (to get some experience for later on) even though the temperature dropped down in the 40's at night. On Saturday evening we went to the Red Minnow for a plentiful buffet and Sunday morning found us gathered together for our church service led by Dick Addison with assistance from Gail. He had a good message for all and we thank him for that.
While Harry & I were on the way to, or at the rendezvous, we had several calls from John Melton who was inquiring about dues. He gave us the information that he was to be married on 9/30 but we don't know her name or where she resided. We'll be interested in the details when we see them. Harry tried many times to reach him when we returned on 9/27 but John must have been gone by then and he didn't have an answering machine. Sorry about that John. Harry tried again (10/15) and still nothing.
We had hoped to see Ron Taylor, who lives within a nice drive, as he had planned to attend the meeting but guess his schedule was changed. We received a card from the Stewarts saying they'd be at the beach in their time share condo. Danny Hall had surgery earlier, was recuperating nicely but had been unable to get back to Rving as of this writing.

HOUSTON GROUP
The Houston Group had their luncheon October 8th with a total of nine present.
Dick & Gladys Daniels, John & Eulalie Carter, Bernie & Dorothy White, Madelene Meyer Martha Matthis and David Lock. We had two visitors, Dick & Glad's daughter and grandaughter.
We shared some of our recent trips and made out cards for the members under the weather and for those who had lost loved ones. We discussed the method of paying our dues for next year and the methods of getting our news letter. We are beginning to feel fall weather come around the corner and sure welcome it. We voted to skip the luncheon in November and have a little Christmas get together as usual.

The VA Unit Fall Rally was held the weekend of October 12-14, 2007 at Newport News Park. Those in attendance were Ollin & Thelma Morris, Ned & Rosemary Morris, Leonard & Ellen Good, Craig Hubacheck, and Marshall & Louise Mauck. Mike & Susan Sexton were there for the day on Saturday. It was nice seeing all of these members and we appreciate their support in helping to keep our VA Unit going, as there are a lot of State Units folding for the lack of someone stepping up to run their unit. Some of their members are joining other units and some are taking the advantage of the at large members.
I am still looking (same as last year), for our members to step up and suggest their favorite spot for a Unit Rally. This is your club and I need your suggestions. Ned & Rosemary Morris, and Mike & Susan Sexton, are the Rally Masters for our Spring Rally. It will most likely to be held at the Chippokes State Park sometime in May 2008. More detailed information will be coming later.
We held our elections at our Fall Rally. Marshall Mauck, 24215, Unit President, Louise Mauck, Secretary/Treasurer. Send your five dollar ($5.00) unit dues to Louise Mauck, 2078 Clarketown Rd. Heathsville, Va. 22473 (804)580-6401
Attached is a picture of Ollin & Thelma, holding a plaque presented to them. It says, "Ollin & Thelma Morris, For there dedicated service to the VA Unit of Avion and Fleetwood Travelcade Club October 2007."

Pres. Ken Abramson #10725 36119 Lower Sumas Mtn. Rd., Abbotsford, BC, Canada V3G 1E1;
1st VP Al Caskey, P.O. Box 137, Buck Lake, AB, Canada T0C 0T0;
Secy. Carolyn Abramson #10725 P.O. Box 2929, Sumas, WA 98295; (604)852-6597 comquot@shaw.ca; Treas. Eileen Lamar, 8320 Camano Loop NE, Lacey, WA 98516
It is hard to believe that the summer is over and the fall is well underway. We, in Washington, have been very busy as usual. We all wonder how we ever found time to work as retirement is so very busy.
The Fall Rally was held in Elma and although we were small in number we were mighty and we had a wonderful time. Frank & Eileen did a top notch job of planning for us. We thank them for all of their hard work during the past year.
Ken & Carolyn Abramson take the reins for the coming term and Eileen Lamar will remain treasurer because of the fact that Ken & Carolyn are from British Columbia. It is a lot less cumbersome to have a treasurer from the US. Al & Del Caskey have moved up to first Vice president and Secretary so it will be two years in a row of having Canadians at the helm. At this time the unit does not have a second vice but hopefully that will be corrected soon.
Plans are well underway for the Christmas party at Ocean Shores. It will be a joint party with the Oregon unit and it appears as if we will have a great turn out.
Everyone is beginning to make plans for the spring rally in Burnaby and the mantra of "One Hundred Butts In Burnaby " can be heard when ever Carolyn gets up to speak. She has been so convincing that Ken was heard to say "what if we have more than 100 butts in Burnaby??" What a wonderful problem to have!
Hugh Schmidt & Anna were involved in an accident but thankfully they are recovering nicely.
Tom Opstad has graciously agreed to be the Governor of the Northwest Region and we thank him so very much.
Four Washington couples, (the Abramsons, the Willeys, the Hansons and the Kinballs) attended the Oregon Fall Rally in Meridian, Idaho
We want to take this opportunity to welcome Wes & Mildred Adrian to the Washington Unit and we hope we will be seeing them often.
A note from Linda Willey said that the Federal Way luncheon had a good turn-out this month: Fran & Jim Reed, Larry & Marcia Chittick, Norm & Norma Anderson, Ray & Marlise Hanson, Hugh & Anna Schmidt, Don & Peg Alastra, and Les & Linda Willey.
Some of the news going around the table: Larry & Marcia have been boating and cruising this summer, and Hugh & Anna hope to go south soon. Don & Peg have been up home in Washington most of the summer, but now that it's getting cold and rainy, they're ready to head south again. Norm & Norma are enjoying their new house, but it will still be awhile before they feel totally settled. When Les & Linda left the Fall OR Rally in Meridian, Idaho, they stopped at an RV park in LaGrande, OR for the night and parked right next to, and were able to visit with, Phil & Leah Kimball.
Also, enthusiasm was running high for the Christmas Party as well as for the "100 Butts in Burnaby" Rally coming up next spring.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American friends. We all have so very much to be thankful for.
Till next time
Fleetwood Hugs
Ken and Carolyn
